Dr. Widiartanto, S.Sos, M.AB (Head Of UNDIP Business Administration Department): Profile Of UNDIP Business Administration Graduates “Entrepreneur, Business Analyst/Consultant, Researcher And Business Operator”

Universitas Diponegoro Business Administration is one of the preferred study programs for prospective new students. There are many industries, government-owned and private companies that require Business Administration graduates, whose graduates have the opportunity to work in the fields of human resources, marketing, business development, to entrepreneurship.

Dr. Widiartanto, S.Sos, M.AB, as the Head of the Business Administration Department at Universitas Diponegoro said that the profile and description of Business Administration graduates, including Entrepreneurs, graduates can bring change, innovation, new ideas and new rules by combining various resources. So that, the graduates are acceptable and can provide more benefits to the wider community ethically and responsibly. they can produce and determine ways to produce any product/service, plan and market them, and be able to manage aspects of the capital and the impact of its activities; Business analysts/Consultant-graduates have the ability to analyze and assess business problems by using good and appropriate approaches, processes, and tools to make the right decisions; Researcher, graduates can produce knowledge on an event, behaviour, theory, and law through an active, perseverance, and systematic investigation process, which aims to find, interpret and revise facts; and Business operators – graduates can carry out business-oriented functions by using the company’s internal and external resources, while still prioritizing ethical business operations.

“In facing the challenges of learning in the field of Business Administration in the digital era and the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the Department of Business Administration organizes the online learning using the Ms Teams, Zoom and Kulon applications for all courses displayed. Then all the lecture processes are digitally based which are integrated with SSO (single sign on), such as IRS registration, attendance process, daily assignment collection, midterm test(UTS) and final test (UAS), score judicium, PBM evaluation, registration for thesis defence, graduation registration, etc. Thus, each lecturer has been facilitated at SSO with some websites. Such as, SIAP, SKP, Taxes, Zakat, PKM, Online Presence, E-duk, SITAMPAN, Online Course, BKD, OPOC, Undip E-Journal and so on”.

“The Department of Business Administration as part of the Social-Humanities Sciences also plays a role in several Business Administration Programs by having villages or fostered areas around Semarang City and Demak Regency. This year, the Department of Business Administration is involved in the development of the Glagahwangi Demak Beach Tourism Area, by providing counselling and socialization for waste management, technology for making handicrafts as souvenirs, BUMDES bookkeeping training, and training on business profiling. For the community service area in Purbalingga Regency with the theme of capacity building for eco print batik craftsmen. It is also involved in the Community Development Program in several CSR target areas of PT. Pertamina Lubricants, such as in Semarang, Balikpapan, Jakarta, Surabaya, Tuban, NTT, Balikpapan and Makassar,” he continued.

According to Dr. Widi, the Department of Business Administration has carried out many strategies to increase the public interest in applying for the Undip Business Administration Department. Several steps for implementing the marketing communications were taken to increase the interest of applicants in the Business Administration Study Program, among others, using social media such as Facebook, Instagram, WA and conventional media. Such as newspapers, brochures, and leaflets by publishing several departmental activities in the field of tri dharma of higher education. Then, it also forms an alumni association named IKABIS (Business Administration Alumni Association) which has several work programs including scholarships, organizing social services in the community, and alumni teaching programs which are published on social media and conventional media. Then, through several work programs carried out by HMJ (Department Student Association) Business Administration, such as Galaxy Market which involves many tenants of MSME actors in Semarang City, several entrepreneurship seminars and business incubation involving the society, and so on.

The vision of the Undip FISIP Business Administration Study Program is “In 2030, it becomes the centre for conceptual and practical business administration studies that can produce graduates with excellent abilities in the field of business science at the international level”. While its missions include organizing the learning in the field of business administration that fosters curiosity, good process orientation, and commendable social ethics, encouraging research activities in the field of business administration and developing creative and solutive ideas through scientific forums, encouraging the implementation of community service activity as a practical means and implementation of business administration, especially for social associations based on business activities in local, regional, and national areas. Business Administration Study Program develops intellectual character and behaviour by prioritizing academic ethics and improves the reputation and accreditation of the study programs at the national and international levels.

To support the Undip University World Class Program, the Department of Business Administration has taken several steps, including opening the IUP Classes since 2019, with 49 active students until 2020. The program requires the students to sit in for at least 1 semester in several partner universities, such as in South Korea, Turkey and Malaysia. It also has opened DIMAS (Diponegoro Master of Scholarship) classes for the Master of Business Administration/MABIS Program, with 12 foreign students up to 2021, coming from several countries such as Madagascar, Sierra Lione, Nigeria, India, Timor Leste, Algeria, Afghanistan, and Congo. Besides, the Business Administration Department had organized Summer Course Programs at the Department level, by presenting several speakers from 5 continents (planned in September 2021), and Visiting Professor Program (planned in October 2021).

“In addition, the Department of Business Administration had organized a Visiting Lecture Program with guest lecturers from several partner campuses abroad, planned in October 2021, and carried out a Student Exchange Program to several partner universities such as in South Korea, Turkey, Malaysia and the UK.
